Fire Engineering



Fahy Fitzpatrick Consulting Engineers are currently working on or have completed work on the following fire safety developments and engineering projects.

Accenture have leased the entire seven-storey block A/B and occupied all floors. The project consisted of works to allow Accenture to sub let the top two floors circa 1100sqm of the 4800sqm total. This involved the closing up of accommodation stairs between the fourth and fifth floors and various fire safety precautions. Due to the sudden decision to proceed with the project a speedy turnaround was essential and a fire safety certificate was obtained within one month from obtaining client layout to obtaining grant of certificate.


Banagher Tyre Centre

Client: Banagher Tyres Ltd.

Location: Banagher, Co. Offaly


Banagher Tyres approached Fahy Fitzpatrick to undertake a complete consultancy service to ensure a very tight construction programme was achieved. The services included Project Management, Structural Engineering, Disabled Access Certificate and Fire Safety Certificate applications. The project consisted of a new 530m2 facility with an additional 100m2 of mezzanine floor designed into layout during the fire cert process. The part two-storey facility received a Disabled Access Certificate within 3 days of lodging and a Fire Safety Certificate within 5 days of lodging due to close cooperation with Offaly County Council Fire Authority.


Wellmount Road Addiction Centre

Client: Finglas Addiction Support Team(FAST)
Architect: Michael T. Breen and Associates
Location: Finglas, Co. Dublin


The two storey addiction facility caters for patient counselling after addiction. The architect’s design included features like two storey atrium and multiple sources of natural lighting to maximise the internal environment. This “open feel” was followed as much as possible in the fire safety design. The project consisted of a new 550m2 facility with a serenity garden surrounding the building within a tight suburban site.


Taste Of The Sea, Glasnevin

The 250m2 frozen seafood shop is part of the Lidl shopping Centre , off the N2. The project involved the fire safety certificate application and then the inspection to certificate of compliance stage. the fire safety certificate was obtained two weeks earlier than the statutory deadline in time for the proposed opening date of the store.Fahy Fitzpatrick were then appointed to the construction stage to facilitate a successful apply
for liquor licence.


Leonidas, Jervis Shopping Centre

Location: Jervis St., Dublin 1


The fit out of an existing single storey retail unit for a new Leonidas Chocolate store. Fahy Fitzpatrick advised the client on their statutory obligations and fire safety design. We also oversaw the fit out in order to issue a certificate of compliance with the building regulations. This allowed the client to avoid the cost and time loss of a fire safety certificate application thus the shop could open 10 weeks earlier.


Lilywhite Beauty Salon, Sallins Town Centre

Location: Sallins, Co. Kildare

The fit out of an existing single storey retail unit for a new beauty salon. Fahy Fitzpatrick advised the client on their statutory obligations and fire safety design. We also oversaw the fit out in order to issue a certificate of compliance with the building regulations. This allowed the client to avoid the cost and time loss of a fire safety certificate application thus the shop could open 10 weeks earlier.


Ultralase Clinic Cork

Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) for a two storey eye surgery and consultation clinic built in 2001. The client wished to review the fire saftey layout and features of the premises, which they rent. Given that there were known deficiences Fahy Fitzpatrick were contracted to minimise the cost of upgrading the building to meet the requirements of the fire regulations. One of the major benefits of our services was a method of keeping the open stairs which would otherwise have had been enclosed
with fire resisting walls.


Bellababy, Dundrum Town Centre

The fit out of a “Magee” single storey retail unit for a baby product shop. The client wished to procure a long term lease and so our brief included a review of all planning and previous fire safety documentation, confirmation of lease maps, structural survey as well as the overseeing of the fire out with a view to issuing a certificate of compliance with Part B of the building regulations so that a new application for a fire safety certificate would not be necessary and allow an earlier opening date for the store.


Drumlough Hill, Co Donegal

Client: Eco Wind Power
Location: Buncrana, Co Donegal


A 50 m high wind turbine tower was subjected to a fire and a second tower had exhibited excessive corrosion due to a paint failure. A fire damage inspection was carried out on behalf of the Client along with an investigation into the defective corrosion protection. Fahy Fitzpatrick specified any necessary repair and consulted on maintenance regime.
