Cappamore Flood Relief Scheme
Location: Cappamore, Co. Limerick
Client: Office of Public Works
Value: €4 million (certified works)
Construction of diversion channel to take high flows on the Mulkear River away from Cappamore to prevent flooding in the town, including associated flow and level control structures, road bridges, retaining structures, drainage and landscaping. We were involved with the design, statutory processes, tender stage, contract administration, Resident Engineering, public liaison and consultation.
Mullingar Civic Offices Pedestrian bridge and walkway

Design of a pedestrian link across the River Brosna and a listed 18th century prison wall. The steel suspension bridge was designed to link through the civic office site via a similarly designed timber walkway to adjacent town centre. The bridge spans 14metres was constructed with painted mild steel frame and timber walkway suspended on maccalloy steel ropes anchored to adjacent CFA piling.
Mullingar Link Road and Bridges
Location: Mullingar, Co. Westmeath

Westmeath County council procured a design and build consortium for the development circa 0.6Km of urban link road, cycle tracks and footpaths to form first phase of a south ring road. The construction was over the river Brosna at two locations and adjacent to the Dublin-Sligo railway line. The main 22m span bridge was constructed with prestress beams and reinforced concrete. Approach embankments on either side were constructed using 180m of R.C. retaining walls due to site constraints The second 11m span bridge is a reinforced concrete portal. The structure has been designed to protect a listed archaeological wall and allow tourists a view of it. Both bridges and embankment retaining walls are founded on circa 190 CFA piling
Design of roads and services infrastructure incl. statutory processes for local authority BD/02 approval and Office of Public Works section 50 and liaison with fisheries board in design of rock armour.
